We all need our volunteers, now they need you! The Council’s Volunteers Directors Division is planning a regional conference next May. The title is “Volunteering...A Capital Experience”. They need to raise money for speakers, hotel meeting room expenses, meals and conference breaks, announcements and promotional materials, etc. Their planned attendance is 100 - 150. Council CEOs will receive a letter soon requesting a donation to help them out. All proceeds will be used exclusively for this division. Be generous, you know how important they are.

On July 20 the Directors of Volunteer Services held their meeting at the Council offices and met with Council President Joe Burns to discuss the details of the conference.

DCAHQ, Council’s Healthcare Quality Management Division, has a meeting planned for October 12 at National Rehabilitation Hospital. The topic is “Transparency in Healthcare”. There is also a CPHQ exam course scheduled for November 1 - 2. contact Nancy DiBinedetto, Nancy.M.DiBenedetto@medstar.net, for details on CPHQ course.

Our Patient Representatives will meet on October 18 in Williamsburg, VA combining the regional meeting with Potomac and Virginia Chapters of SCHA (Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy). The theme of the meeting will be “Advocating for Our Patients - A Local, State and National Perspective”.
