• Defensive medicine adds $150 - $190 billion each year to healthcare costs.
• “Cash for Clunkers” just got an infusion of $2.0 billion. Dealers are running out of new cars! Great deal for Asia. 3 of 5 cars sold with this program are Toyotas. Why do we do this stuff? Restrict the program to what used to be the “Big Three”.
• Kelly Blue Book estimates this program will take at least 750,000 used autos out of the marketplace. Car donations are down 50% and vehicles that would sell for $3-5,000 are down drying up. Not to mention parts.
• Six people in Maryland have died of the H1N1 virus. In 4 months 477 American deaths.
