Affiliated Engineers, Inc. Provide Services for Western MD Hospital Project
Affiliated Engineers, Inc. has been selected to provide professional engineering design services for the Western Maryland Health System's new replacement hospital in Cumberland, MD. The lead design architect is Hord Coplan Macht located in Baltimore, MD. Construction services are being provided by Skanska USA Building, Inc. located in Rockville, MD.

The new 600,000 sq. ft. replacement hospital will consolidate two hospital locations-Sacred Heart and Memorial campuses in Cumberland. The project includes the main hospital structure composed of a podium (housing diagnostic and treatment program) and tower (housing patient beds), one parking garage, connecting bridge from the medical office building to the hospital, helipad and decoupled central utility plant. The total hospital structure is seven stories with horizontal expansion capability of 15% for future growth. The program consists of 14 ORs, Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Unit, Intervention Imaging, Service Core, Dietary, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Mental Health, Imaging, Emergency Department, Cancer Center, Pediatrics and Central Sterile. Two hundred seventy five licensed beds are planned in the program.
