Recognizing the need of its members to contain cost, the Healthcare Council in 1972 began a program of soliciting competitive bids to achieve lower pricing and preferred items from vendor. A single contract with just a handful of participants evolved into the National Capital Area Shared Services, incorporated in 1983 as a subsidiary of the Council. Shared Services Announces Agreement with Premier Inc.
National Capital Area Shared Services (NCASS) is a regional GPO and “affiliate sponsor” of Premier Inc. Premier is the nation’s largest provider GPO with critical mass volume exceeding $31 billion annually. Over 2000 hospitals and 49,000 allieds participate.
NCASS has a long history (since 1972) in group purchasing documenting hundreds of millions in savings and cost containment to participants. National Capital Area Shared Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Healthcare Council of the National Capital Area, a non-profit association (since 1946) of providers in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.
The program through NCASS sponsorship is available to all U.S. providers including but not limited to:
- Hospitals/Systems Imaging Centers
- Long Term Care Facilities Clinics
- Schools/Universities Physician Offices/Group Practices
- Home Health Senior Living Homes
- Ambulatory Care Surgery Centers
